Mailing List

The Slavic Linguistics Society has established an email distribution list (called ‘SLAVICLING’) for propagating inquiries and information of interest to the field. The mailing list is hosted at the University of Texas and maintained by Gilbert Rappaport. It is open to anyone who is interested in Slavic linguistics. Membership in the Slavic Linguistics Society is NOT required.

How to subscribe to SLAVICLING

To subscribe to the email distribution list, please do the following:

  1. Go to the mailing list management page at the University of Texas. (Clicking on the link will open it in a new browser tab.)
  2. Ignore the error message at the top of the page. In the upper left-hand corner of the screen, click on ‘First login ?’.
  3. Follow the instructions: enter the email address at which you would like to receive messages. Click on ‘Send me my password’.
  4. Check your email, where you should find a message with a password. This may take a few minutes, so be patient. If a message does not appear in your inbox, check your spam folder.
  5. Go back to the list management page and log in using the email address you provided and your new password.
  6. Your initial options are listed on the left side of the screen. Click on ‘Subscribe’. There are other options that you can set here, but you don’t have to do anything other than subscribe.
  7. Log out.

You can return to this page at any time to change the initial password (which is always recommended), to change the email address at which you are subscribed, or to unsubscribe. For any of these options, you will need to first log in using the email address that you provided and your current password. When you return to the page, you will find ‘slavicling’ listed on the left side of the screen (under ‘Your lists’). Click on the name of the list and you will see available options.

How to send an email to the list

To distribute a message to all other subscribers,  send the message to: slavicling [at] utlists [dot] utexas [dot] edu.

You must be subscribed to the list to send messages to it. More specifically, the message must be sent from the email address with which you are subscribed to the list. If you subscribed using one email account (e.g. myname [at] osu [dot] edu), and then send a message to the list from some other email account (e.g. myname [at] gmail [dot] com), it will not go through.

Please do NOT use the email address above to communicate with the Slavic Linguistics Society’s Executive Board. Use the website’s contact form to send a message that is intended only for Board members.

Also, please do NOT use this email address to communicate with the SLAVICLING list administrator (Gilbert Rappaport). For information about how to unsubscribe from the mailing list, or how to contact the list administrator, see below.
